Counter attack helps Liverpool

1:59pm Thursday 26th January 2012

WARRINGTON slipped to seventh in North West Men’s Hockey League Division Seven North after missing out on their fifth consecutive victory against University of Liverpool’s seconds.

A bright start saw Warrington take the lead from Dave Yates’ spectacular reverse flick into the top corner, but they failed to take further chances, inevitably leading to frustration when Liverpool reversed the score with two goals.

In the second half, both teams tightened up their play but with Warrington forced to push forward for an equaliser it made them vulnerable to the counter attacks that handed Liverpool a final goal in the 3-1 win.
