Dolphins cross the Channel

TWO teams from Warrington Dolphins Long Distance Swimming Club successfully crossed the English Channel.
Team Pacific, managed by Michela Richard, consisted of Conor Dean, Jo Norton-Barker, Eve Fellows, Charlotte Dickinson, Courtney Dean and David Bowker.
They were taken on by Team Southern, managed by Chris Carter, which was made up by June Morris, Mark Blewitt, Sarah Beresford, Andy Sherratt, Jennifer Carter, Julie Trevor and Mandy Reid.
Dean (Pacific) and Morris (Southern) began their epic relay battle from Samphire Hoe and both were soon settled into their swimming following the pilot boat.
Each swam for an hour, taking it in turns, in the same order throughout the swim until they reached France.
Team Pacific finished the swim in 11hrs 31mins, while Team Southern finished in 14hrs 4mins.
Warrington Dolphins were also well represented at the British Long Distance Swimming Association 10.5 mile Championships.
Eve Fellows crowned her first season as a senior swimmer, completing the course at her first attempt in 4hrs 39mins.
Michaela Richard completed the course in 4hrs 57mins and Christian Wade, swimming for Cancer Research UK, finished in 5hrs 45mins followed home by Jo Norton Barker and Caroline Lewis in 6hrs 27mins and 6hrs 43mins, respectively.
Joe Coy, attempting to swim the whole distance butterfly had to retire at around the half way stage.
