Lottery is big help for heroes return
2:20pm Thursday 9th September 2010
SECOND World War veterans are being given the opportunity to revisit the sites they served in at the expense of the Big Lottery Fund.
The ‘Heroes Return’ programme is an initiative that offers to cover travel and accommodation expenses for veterans or their widows and their spouses or carers.
The Big Lottery Fund has emphasised that all trips must be taken by the end of 2010. If any veterans have recently made trips to sites but were unaware of Heroes Return, funding can be claimed retrospectively.
Helen Jones, MP for Warrington North, said: “More than 10,000 people have secured funding to return to places like Italy, France, Greece, Holland, Germany, the Far East and Australia. I would encourage our veterans to apply now.”
